Costa Rica houses the Area de Conservación which is a national park that has 147,000 ha of land and sea in an effort to conserve wildlife. This conservation area has about 7,000 plant species and at least 900 vertebrate species. The tropical dry forest that is located within these 140,000 ha is regrowing well due to the continuous stretch of various ecosystems that are surrounding the dry forest. The government is constantly buying neighboring land in the hopes of extending the Area de Conservación.
