Tropical dry forests require a large amount of area to maintain the species diversity that is unique to this biome like the northern Tamandua. The large area needed is crucial for species that are sensitive to predation. Predators need the large land area for large hunting grounds as well as territories. Riparian forests are crucial to many bird species and primates. Fire is frequent in dry forests and the animals that reside need a large area to escape the section of the forest that is burning. |
